Leadership

President:  Felecia Froe M.D.

Dr. Froe earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. She completed her residency in urology in 1993. She has been practicing medicine since that time, currently in California.

In her effort to find balance, Felecia began investing in real estate in 2004. Since that time she has invested for herself as well as raised funds and provided investors with solid returns. Over her investing career, she has experienced the ups and downs of the real estate market and learned valuable lessons on how to strategically position investments. She is currently actively investing for herself and  investors and enjoys working with her female physician colleagues to explain real asset investing. Felecia believes that having passive income, as can be obtained through real estate investing, gives us options for what we want to do in life. Imagine being able to work part time and not lose income. That’s what passive income can do.

Investing for social impact has been an important part of her investing career. She recently opened, with her business partners, a residential assisted living home in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Food access and health with regard to food have been of interest for many years. As a physician she understands that many of the chronic diseases we deal with are related to poor nutrition and that healthy food is the mainstay to longevity. She is proud and excited to be working to help improve food access and health in Tulsa, OK.

Vice President Maria Adelaida Otazo, M.D., M.A.

As the child of an opera singer and a doctor, I had a very artsy and science-y upbringing.  After high school, I moved to New York City where I studied visual arts, but found my calling with the field of Biology. I earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in Biology at the City College of New York, NY and then I completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.  During my time in Houston, I met my soulmate, Alex. We moved to Denver, CO together for my residency at the Rose Family Medicine Residency. It was during residency that I studied under Dr. Martha Ilige, one of the founding members of the Balance Conference. During my intern year, I had the honor of attending my first Balance Conference. Since then, I have attended the conference for 3 out of the past 4 years. After completing residency, Alex and I moved to rural Texas to put down roots and to start a homestead. I am currently in practice in the area of Waco, TX.

In my free time, you may find me doing any number of things: vegetable gardening, tending to our animals (we have about 40 animals, including dogs, goats, chickens, pheasants and quail), trail biking on our country roads, traveling or eclipse-chasing. All of these activities keep me balanced as a physician, and more importantly, as a person. As vice president and as one of the newer members of this organization, I hope to honor and continue the spirit of support and fellowship for women physicians everywhere.
