Course Description:
This current global pandemic, as well the rising awareness of social injustice, a divisive political season and environmental crisis after crisis have all affected how we define “home” and “away”; in our bodies and our families, in our communities and in our world. Writing and creative expression can be vital tools right now to help us stay awake, hopeful, centered and able to meet whatever comes next. In this 4-hr class we will talk through some writing craft principals and ideas as we always do, and I will give out a series of simple writing exercises we can try together. Id like to address some of the internal and external challenges and openings of this extraordinary time in history we are living through and see if we can come up with a few new insights and experiments that might keep everyone's mind, spirit and writing practice moving forward.
